1. Your iPhone model
Screen cost scales with the phone itself. A newer Pro or Pro Max model uses a more complex, more expensive display assembly than an older or entry-level model — this is by far the biggest factor in the final price, more than anything the repair shop does differently.
2. Part quality: OEM, premium aftermarket, or budget
Not all replacement screens are equal, even for the same iPhone model:
- OEM / genuine-spec parts match the original display's color accuracy, brightness, and touch sensitivity most closely.
- Premium aftermarket parts are a reasonable middle ground — noticeably better than budget parts, at a lower cost than OEM.
- Budget parts are the cheapest up front but often show it in color accuracy, touch responsiveness, or True Tone behavior — and tend to fail sooner.
A quote that seems unusually low compared to others is worth asking about directly: which part tier is included?
3. What's actually damaged
A cracked glass layer with a fully working display underneath is a more straightforward repair than a screen with dead pixels, touch response issues, or display discoloration — those point to damage in the display module itself, not just the glass, which is a different repair.
4. Whether Face ID or other sensors are involved
On models with Face ID, the True Depth camera and sensor housing at the top of the screen have to be transferred carefully during a repair to keep Face ID working. A shop that isn't careful with this step can leave you with a new screen and broken Face ID — worth confirming upfront that this is handled properly.
